PENTAX have updated their flagship model, the K-1 full frame 36MP DSLR to a new Mark II version. This latest version has major updates to the sensor sensitivity and accelerator unit promising better image quality and shooting performance.
With a top sensitivity of ISO 819200, the K-1 Mark II expands the creative boundaries of high-resolution digital SLR photography.
The advanced Pixel Shift Resolution System II for super-high-resolution images is a unique technology that is able to produce high-quality images beyond the power of total pixels available on the sensor. With the new Motion Correction function enabled, super-high-resolution images can be captured even when shooting handheld.
The camera's 5-axis image stabilization system enables the image sensor to tilt in all directions, opening the door to additional advanced features such as, auto level compensation, image-composition fine-adjustment, and Astro Tracer (for capturing sharp photos of the night sky). This image stabilization system also enables up to 5 steps of camera shake compensation for any mounted lens.
What could be the most interesting feature for existing K-1 owners is the announcement of a paid upgrade service bringing their current camera all the advanced functions of the new K-1 Mark II. At this stage Australian pricing for this upgrade has not been announced.
