After leaving a career as a graphic designer to become a photographer in 2003, Jake found himself freelancing in Iraq in the aftermath of the American led invasion. He returned to take a role at the North Star at Mount Isa before accepting a position at the Cairns Post in 2007. He started work with the Herald Sun and Australian newspapers three years later and is currently a trusted and award winning photographer covering daily news events domestically and overseas. Jake was a finalist at Nikon Walkley Awards 2016 and won best News photo at Quills 2017.
