Designed for APS-C DSLRs, the Sigma 50-100mm f/1.8 DC HSM Lens offers an 80-160mm equivalent focal length and a constant f/1.8 aperture throughout the zoom range.
As part of the premium Sigma Art series, the 50-100mm f/1.8 is ideal for artistic and creative photography. Its mid-range zoom delivers excellent optical performance with image quality matching a prime lens. Practical and versatile, the lens covers the 35mm equivalent of the three common prime focal lengths popular with wedding and portrait photographers including the 85mm, 100/105mm and 135mm
The lens delivers a constant maximum aperture of f/1.8 throughout the focal range and simultaneously maintains precise focus as the lens is zoomed. The bright constant aperture allows excellent low light performance and greater control over selective focus applications.
With 21 elements in 15 groups, the lens comprises of three âFâ Low Dispersion (FLD) glass elements and one Special Low Dispersion (SLD) glass element, three high-refractive index SLD glass elements, and one high-refractive index, high-dispersion glass element. Including one or more low-dispersion element in every element group ensures minimum chromatic aberration and outstanding edge-to -edge image quality throughout the zoom and focal range.
A Super Multi Layer Coating on the lens elements reduce flaring and ghosting, providing sharp, high contrast imageseven when shot wide open in bright and backlit conditions.
The lens features Sigma's proven Hyper Sonic Motor (HSM) for silent, quick and precise auto-focusing. For greater accuracy in delicate focusing scenarios, the motor allows manual focusing override via focus ring even in the autofocus mode.
Incorporating a inner focus and inner zoom mechanism, the lens focuses without moving the front end of the lens whilst also maintaining a constant physical size. This efficient deisgn offers faster performance, controlled handling and provides protection to the front of the lens whilst also ensuring the lens internals remain free of dust and moisture.
A rounded nine blade diaphragm made with fluorine coated polycarbonate and coated with a carbon feather film allows smooth and exceptionally fast aperture control. The polycarbonate construction of the blades ensure high durability and wear resistance, ensuring years of reliable, precision service.
The internal components of the lens are fabricated with metal and Thermally Stable Composite (TSC), offering higher precision levels and better performance under a wide temperature range. The bayonet mount is made of brass for higher durability and an accurate fit to the camera
An integrated tripod collar is also featured on the Sigma 50-100 mm f/1.8 Art lens, ensuring easy mounting on to a tripod or monopod for additional stability. The tripod socket also features 90-degree click stops for smooth switching between the horizontal and vertical orientation.
