About the Tamron SP AF 90 f/2.8 DI USD Macro - Sony

Superior image quality in 1:1 lifesize photography – now with ultrasonic autofocus and image stabilisation

Images of astounding sharpness, augmented by natural blur effects. Tamron’s classic 90mm macro lens is reborn to shoot images even more exquisite. Compatible with full-size DSLRs sensors, this high-resolution macro lens captures even the tiniest details with stunning clarity.

As well, the addtion of Tamron's VC (Vibration Compensation)* makes this new lens ideal for general telephoto use such as handheld natural-light portraiture, where the wide maximum aperture is complemented by the image stabilisation.

USD (Ultrasonic Drive) autofocus provides a speedy, accurate response to faster-moving subjects.

Powerful resolution with beautiful blur effects

Two XLD (Extra Low Dispersion) glass elements** made from specialised, high-grade glass and one LD (Low Dispersion) element combine to thoroughly correct aberration. As well, the rounded diaphragm shape at wide apertures*** delivers spectacular blur of out-of-focus objects. Pinpoint focus on the subject and soft, natural-looking blur in foregrounds and backgrounds combine for images with a richer, more satisfying ambience.

* The Sony mount does not include VC, as Sony digital SLR bodies include image stabilisation functionality. The Sony lens is designated as “SP 90mm F/2.8 Di Macro 1:1 USD”.

** The XLD glass has an extremely lowlight dispersion ratio similar to fluorite.

*** The diaphragm retains a nearly circular shape at aperture settings down to f/5.6.
