For more than 40years now, ARCA-SWISS has had a reputation as the manufacturer of the top-selling and, in my opinion, best ball heads worldwide.
Tradition and quality (my oldest ball head has been in use since 1970), in the best sense of the words, mean constant striving for even better or more innovative solutions. And this is how ARCA-SWISS's monoball P1 was developed and presented at the Photokina 2006. (incidentally - this model was overhauled and improved once more especially for the Photokina 2008)
The first striking feature of the ARCA-SWISS monoball P1 is the conspicuous absence of a locking screw, which is replaced by a milled swivel. Regardless from which direction the photographer uses the ball head, he will be able to intuitively grip, lock or release the head - an advantage not to be underestimated in the hectic daily pace of the job.
The version sp (single panorama) has a ball tilt range of 35° and a panning mechanism with a range of 360°, located directly beneath the camera.
By the way: the P1 is an absolute lightweight, weighing in at just over 500g.
