Passion for photography and unrelentingly high-standards are what drives the Fujifilm X-Pro 1 Digital Camera. Proudly made in Japan, every part of the X-Pro 1 - from the sensor to the knurled finish of the mode dials - was painstakingly produced with an extreme attention to detail. Harkening back to a time when cameras had the kind of weight to them that gave a photographer confidence, Fujifilm has designed the X-Pro 1 with a die-cast aluminum top and base, a leather like finish on the main body for grip and the look and feel of authentic leather, a natural fitting eyepiece, and other elegant touches like precise engraving on the top-plate. This level of attention to design and a photographer's comfort when shooting makes it almost hard to believe the X-Pro 1 is a modern digitalcamera.

That being said, the X-Pro 1 is very much a digital camera, combining time-tested physical attributes - refined during the film era - and 21st century digital technology. Mirrorless, the camera's X Mount has a short flange back of just 17.7mm, meaning that rear lens elements are as close to the sensor as possible. This reduces the back focus distance of each lens and results in high resolution being achieved all the way to the edge of the image. The sensor is Fujiflm's 16.3Mp APS-C 23.6 x 15.6mm X-Trans CMOS sensor. The X-Trans utilizes a color filter array to attack moiré and false colors, resulting in an exceptionally true-to-life image that sensor's with optical low-pass filters cannot approach. The EXR Processor Pro supports the X-Trans sensor in its mission and works with an integrated co-processor for high speed and precision.

The aforementioned X Mount attaches FUJINON XF lenses to the X-Pro 1 body. Each lens was designed precisely for the X-Pro 1 and promises enhanced resolution and light volume in edge areas, as well as reduced chromatic aberration. The XF lenses are all polished with Super EBC coating and feature an all-glass aspherical lens, among other elements. At the time of release the separately available lenses include the XF18mm F2 R, the XF35mm F1.4 R, and the XF60mm F3.4 R Macro.

The X-Pro 1 also features the Hybrid Multi Viewfinder which allows you to switch between optical and electronic viewfinders. When an XF series lens is mounted to the camera the viewfinder magnification and frame size are automatically adjusted for immediate shooting. The optical viewfinder provides the brightest viewing image and keeps shutter lag to a minimum, while the electronic viewfinder provides focus confirmation, exposure information, white balance information, and depth of field indicators, as well as a "Live View" of your composition.

In addition to the Hybrid Multi Viewfinder, the X-Pro 1 has a 3.0" LCD screen with 100% coverage and 1,230,000 dots. Files can be stored to SD/SDHC/SDXC memory cards, and still images can be recorded in JPEG and RAW formats. Of course, the X-Pro 1 can also capture H.264 HD video with stereo sound at 1920 x 1080 resolution. External TTL flashes can be attached to the camera using the hot shoe. Additional features include a self-timer, an ISO range of 200-6500 (extended range of 100-25,600), and spot, average, multi-zone, and TTL 256-zone metering options, among other useful functions.

APS-C 16Mp X-Trans CMOS Sensor
Moire is tackled at its root cause by the revolutionary X-Trans CMOS sensor's color filter array. By enhancing aperiodicity (randomness) in the array arrangement, the color filter minimizes generation of both moire and false colors, eliminating the necessity for an optical low-pass filter in the lens and enabling X-Trans CMOS sensor to capture full "unfiltered" lens performance. The EXR Processor Pro is supported by an integrated co-processor for higher speed and higher precision image processing performance

Conventional array
The optical low-pass filter prevents the occurrence of moire and false colors but results in a loss of resolution

New filter array
A higher degree of randomness with an array of 6 x 6 pixel units. Without using an optical low-pass filter, moire and false colors are eliminated while realizing high resolution. Inspired by the natural random arrangement of the fine grains of silver halide in film

XF Lens
Designed especially for the X-Pro 1, the FUJINON XF Lens series promises enhanced resolution and light volume in image edge areas as well as reduced chromatic aberration for exceptional image quality. Featuring an all-glass aspherical lens and other elements, the lens is polished to perfection and treated with Super EBC coating. Holding the high-quality metal barrel and operating the precision-machined 1/3-step aperture ring is a sensation that fires the desire to capture every scene. For photographers who seek the peak of photographic excellence, Fujifilm raises the curtain on a new era of interchangeable lenses and unveils a premium line up of 3 single-focal length lenses (lenses not included with camera body)

X Mount
Taking full advantage of the mirrorless design, the mount boasts a short 17.7mm flange back distance, a wider opening, and deeper mounting of the lens, resulting in reduction of back focus distance to the minimum possible while achieving high resolution extending to the image edge areas. When a FUJINON XF lens is mounted, all lens information is instantly communicated to the body, integrating them into a seamless, responsive instrument
Hybrid Multi Viewfinder
Featuring the freedom to switch between an optical and electronic viewfinder, the Hybrid Viewfinder has evolved to meet the challenges of interchangeable lenses. When an XF series lens is mounted, lens data is communicated to the X-Pro 1, and viewfinder magnification (2 types) and frame size (multiple steps) are automatically switched, allowing you to peer through the viewfinder with all of your attention focused on the subject. Every lens change reveals a new world of beauty to capture

Magnifying system
Viewfinder magnification automatically changes when an XF series lens is mounted, and because there is very little noticeable difference in the angle of view when switching between OVF and EVF, viewing in either mode is smooth and natural
