About the Gold Street Studio Cyanotype Printing Kit 100mls

The cyanotype kit is a two-part solution relatively inexpensive and easy to use. After exposure to UV light (sun), the image is developed out in water  –no other chemicals are required. Colour may be easily modified by a variety of toning agents – it can be applied to fabrics and other surfaces.
The characteristic cyan blue colour is embedded in the fibres of the paper.

Working Solution:100 ml of solution coats approx 30 sheets of 8 x 10 paper using a glass rod chemical pusher – 20 or less sheets when applying with a brush

 The Traditional Cyanotype Process

The 'traditional' recipe was invented by Sir John Herschel in 1842 and has the merits of being cheap, easy, and substantially non-toxic. It is suitable for newcomers to alternative processes and can be placed in the hands of children, but an experienced printer wishing to get the best result out of a fine negative should find the slightly more complicated New Cyanotype process worthwhile.

THE CYANOTYPE HISTORY
Sir John Herschel’s traditional cyanotype process practised since 1842 became known as Blueprint. The “Blueprint” was used extensively as a copying process for engineers and architects.
