The OM-D E-M5 Mark II is the latest addition to the OM-D family. A newly developed 5-axis VCM image stabilisation, which powerfully compensates for any type of shaking, provides unparralelled performance in both stills and video capture. The dustproof and splashproof construction, is now also freezeproof for even better reliability under the harshest of conditions. This incredibly mobile body is packed with the latest technologies, including OM-D Movie for cinema-quality, hand-held interchangeable lens camera shooting. The incredibly high performance and excellent mobility the E-M5 Mark II provides opens doors to new shooting experiences.
The improved in-body 5-axis image stabilisation achieves compensation ability equal to the world's highest 5 steps of shutter speed, making hand-held shooting enjoyable, and making it possible to shoot at a telephoto end without worrying about camera shake even in dark locations. This model is equipped with halfway release image stabilisation so you can view image stabilisation effects in the viewfinder while pressing the shutter button halfway. This makes more accurate framing and focusing possible through a stable viewfinder image during macro and telephoto shooting.
The further advanced in-body 5-axis image stabilisation enables stable movie recording even during active camera work. The compact, lightweight OM-D allows you to capture stable video even when moving. OM-D Movie achieves the most advanced stabilisation system of any interchangable lens camera on the market.
Zuiko Lens Systems were designed specifically for digital cameras and boast amazing optical performance. In combination with the high-quality sensor, image processor, and amazing image stabilisation system, they provide outstanding image quality. The E-M5 Mark II introduces 40M High Res Shot, which is perfect for aritistic photos and landscapes. The sensor moves in 0.5 pixel increments while capturing 8 shots to generate a single 40M sensor equivalent high-resolution photo. Excellent effects are obtained by using the high-resolution M.Zuiko PRO or M.Zuiko Premium lenses when shooting.
When using Silent mode (electronic shutter), AF and all other electronic sounds are disabled so you can shoot discreetly in quiet locations. This can also be used with sequential shooting, and shutter speeds are available from 1/16000 sec. to 60 sec. Ideal for scenarios where quiet function is imperative such as performances and weddings or even photographing sleeping infants.
* Rolling distortion can occur when shooting quick-moving subjects.
* When long shutter noise reduction is set to On and a shutter speed of 5 seconds or more is used, a shutter sound will be audible for capturing a black frame.
* The flash will be deactivated. The AF Illuminator can be used.
An uncompromised form, designed in pursuit of excellent operability, combines with a dustproof and splashproof camera body and lenses to make shooting in any environment possible. Shoot with confidence even in trying weather conditions.
In a first for the Olympus OM-D Series, the E-M5 Mark II utilises a vari-angle monitor in its compact, lightweight body without increasing the size from the original, letting you freely compose shots in any position, from low angles to high angles. This model is equipped with Self Portrait mode so that when the monitor is set to a self portrait, the Live View display shows a mirror image.
A dustproof and splashproof flash is included with the camera for bounce photography (movable 90° upward, 180° horizontally) with GN 9.1 (ISO100/m). This flash can be used as a controller for wireless flash control, making wireless multi-unit flash photography possible with multiple external flashes. The FL-LM3 is NOT compatible with any Olympus camera made prior to the OM-D E-M5 Mark II.
This function lets you use HDMI output for the Live View screen. You can use an external monitor display while recording movies. This allows for easier sight accuracy when manually focusing without focusing aids for a more natural shooting experience.
This camera features built-in Wi-Fi, allowing you to easily connect the camera to your smartphone via Olympus Image Share. Initial connection is easy with a simple scan of the QR code that is displayed on the camera monitor. In addition to transferring images on the camera and controlling the camera, geotags obtained with a smartphone can be added to images, and Art Filters can be applied to recorded images. You can also view the Live View screen on a smartphone while recording movies. It is very useful for remote shooting in a variety of situations.
Tethered shooting is now available due to many requests from studio photographers. The dedicated Olympus Capture software supports professional photographers' workflow. Simply connect the camera and computer with a USB cable and you can shoot, change camera settings, and quickly transfer images from either the camera or computer without having to switch control between the two. You can adjust the focus using the camera viewfinder and shoot using the camera itself before confirming the Live View on the computer. This feature provides a stress-free environment for focusing on shooting, enhancing collaboration with other photography clients.
The HLD-8 is a dustproof and splashproof power battery holder designed exclusively for the E-M5 Mark II. The HLD-8 can be separated into the HLD-8G Camera Grip and HLD-6P Battery Holder, allowing the HLD-8G to be used on its own. The HLD-8G is equipped with a headphone jack, so you can listen to the audio being recorded while shooting a movie. When two batteries, in the camera and the HLD-8, are used together, approximately 580 shots (according to CIPA testing standards) can be captured.
